Project Plug-IN is committed to supporting the deployment of electric vehicles in the Indianapolis area and beyond by engaging with our partners and the community to make sufficient charging infrastructure available. It starts in the home - by installing a Level 2 charger at your home, the 6-8 hours charging time (from "empty" to fully charged) can be done conveniently overnight while you sleep, and at off-peak hours at which electricity is cheapest. Utility companies in the state are beginning to have customer pilots and programs approved for PEV drivers for both charging station equipment and installation, as well as electricity rate programs for households with charging equipment. Project Plug-IN partners Duke Energy, Indianapolis Power & Light (IPL) and NIPSCO already have programs available for those in their territories.
In order to take advantage of these special offers, contact your utility provider to inquire about the programs, incentives and offerings for charging station equipment, home site assessments and installation estimates.
Federal tax credits are also available to help lower the cost of this equipment and installation - visit the US Department of Energy website for more information and to apply for the tax credit.

While most EV owners find it most convenient to charge their vehicles overnight in their homes, ESN and its project partners are currently working on a strategy to deploy public charging station units in the Indianapolis region. Below is a map of all public charging stations available in the state of Indiana. Check back often to view where public charging stations have been installed in your area.
